Orange

This is going to be an interesting week for orange customers. They will find out if they are still able to call their friends on the 07822 3 mobile number range.

On http://www1.orange.co.uk/termsupdate/ it states

Tariff Terms and Conditions changes - effective from 15 October 2007Orange has updated its terms and conditions for call forward services. Calls to these services are not included in the inclusive minutes bundle and include calls to 07, 070, 08 and 09 numbers. These calls may be charged to a maximum of 20p per minute, 55p per minute, 55p per minute and £1.70 per minute or per call respectively. This change will take effect from 15 December 2007 and are applicable to ALL existing Orange tariffs, both those that are currently available and all tariffs that are no longer available for sale.
Customers who use call forwarding services with numbers beginning with 078730, 079785 and 078225 should note that these changes apply to these numbers from 15 December 2007.

So it looks like 078223 mobile numbers should be fine as well they should be.

OFCOM clearly considers 078223 mobile numbers as UK mobile numbers so calls to them should be included as part of the any network minutes. Cos as far I understand any network means any network and not just whatever network orange considers as their friend. I myself have several friends whose number are part of the 078223 range, and if I cannot call them I will definitely be writing to Ed Richards the head honcho of OFCOM
